BERLIN, Germany — An independent journalist based in Berlin has published a new briefing examining why more men are considering laser hair removal and what they expect before starting treatment. The briefing looks at practical motivations such as frequent shaving, irritation, body-hair management and convenience, while also considering how clear information can shape treatment decisions.Hair removal is often discussed as a beauty topic, but the reasons men consider laser treatment can be much more practical. Some want to spend less time shaving the back, chest, shoulders or neck. Others are looking for a way to reduce irritation or repeated maintenance. The briefing argues that these different motivations matter because they influence how each person defines a successful result.
It also addresses the language used around “permanent hair removal.” Published research supports long-term and durable hair reduction, but results can vary between individuals and treatment areas. Several sessions are generally required, and complete lifelong removal of every treated hair cannot be guaranteed.
The briefing includes commentary from Dr. Hisham Adem, Associate Professor at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, and Founder and Owner of Lumière Skin Düsseldorf, Germany.
“Men do not all come in with the same goal,” Adem said. “One person may simply want to shave less often, while another is bothered by irritation or by the amount of time spent managing hair on a particular area. It helps to understand that before talking about treatment.”
The briefing also considers how technical information should be explained. Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd 1064 nm are established wavelengths used in laser hair reduction, but device names alone do not tell a customer what is suitable for his skin and hair characteristics.
“Most people do not need a lecture about equipment,” Adem said. “They want to know whether the treatment is suitable for them, what the process will be like and what they can realistically expect. Those questions deserve clear answers.”
The briefing does not compare providers or claim that one treatment method is universally best. Instead, it uses male laser hair removal as an example of a broader service issue: customers are more likely to make informed decisions when information is understandable and expectations are discussed before treatment begins.
At Lumière Skin Düsseldorf, consultation and individual skin and hair assessment form part of the service concept alongside Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd 1064 nm laser systems. The business is referenced as a practical example rather than as a source of scientific evidence.
