Shadwell Sports Club is preparing to host its Third Annual Intra-Club Cricket Tournament on 25 and 26 July, bringing together members for a weekend of friendly competition, community spirit and sporting excellence.The two-day softball tournament will feature eight 8-a-side teams competing for the club championship, with more than 100 players expected to take part. Now in its third year, the annual event has become one of the club's highlights, promoting participation, teamwork and community engagement.
With a membership of more than 400 people, Shadwell Sports Club continues to play an important role in encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in sport. A key focus of the tournament is inspiring young people to stay active, develop confidence and leadership skills, and build lasting friendships through sport.
A club spokesperson said:
"Our annual tournament is much more than a cricket competition. It brings together members, families and volunteers to celebrate the positive impact that sport has on our community. We're particularly proud of the opportunities it creates for young people to get involved, develop new skills and enjoy being part of an inclusive and welcoming club."
Spectators are welcome to attend and support the teams throughout the weekend. For those unable to be there in person, all matches will be streamed live on the Shadwell Sports Club Facebook page, with live scores and fixtures available on www.play-cricket.com.
The club hopes the event will continue to strengthen community connections while encouraging more local residents to become involved in sport and club activities.
